Zambia Deserves Better

Zambia has gone back to the dogs! Shouted one man as we rode in the minibus from Masala to Ndola Central hospital. The words came in 1993 when I was studying in Ndola, merely two years after Kaunda was voted out of power. As a lover of Democracy, those words did not go well with me. I complained that the man was the UNIP renegade who did not have time to shallow the reality of Zambian politics.

Today, I reflect on those words with anger. I am annoyed that we allowed the MMD to ruin our economy. I am annoyed that our people continue to allow the corrupt leadership to steal and steal. I am annoyed that our children are left to starve when MMD cadres are given free meals! I am really annoyed that the Zambia we all love has really gone to dogs!

Since Kaunda left, we have not seen any meaningful improvement in the lives of ordinary Zambians. Corruption has increased with MPs and ministers becoming millionaires over night. No wonder Teta and his MMD criminals continue to praise Rupiya for ruining our economy. Why spend $53 million dollars on mobile clinics when our hospitals are a mess and we do not even have enough health providers! Why buy tetamalilos when we do not have enough ambulances? And why buy from China?

Friends, the current MMD is full of criminals and if we love Zambia, we need to take back our nation.
